MONICA NICOLAIDES
Choreographer

Monica Nicolaides is a choreographer and movement director, creating choreographies for live events and filmed works.

After working as a professional dancer for several years, she moved into choreography.

Her choreographic portfolio includes short films "Small Acts of Intervention" by Marian Alonso, "Homs Arthaus" by Dunia Rey and "Residue" in collaboration with Lauren Martin.  She was co-choreographer for Carpe Diem Dance Company's ballet productions of "The Nutcracker" and "Coppelia", and for Dance Digital BYTES (commissioned by Dance Digital), an interactive dance work using the motion tracking system Isadora.

She has been  commissioned to create works for Third Row Dance Company, British Medical Association, Marylebone Ballet school and University of Cumbria.

Performing credits include: mapdance, Universal Studios, BBC, LCP Dance Theatre, Carpe Diem Dance, Valentine Pictures, London 2012 Olympic Ceremony, BSkyB, Warner Bros, Dance Digital, The V&A museum, Birmingham Royal Ballet, I=WE, The Barbican amongst others.

Monica is the Artistic Director of MonixArts, a contemporay dance company based in London. MonixArts uses contemporary dance to create productions focusing on human behaviour and relationships in current society. The company's works were performed at Edinburgh Finge Festival, The Place, The Blue Elephant Theatre, Drunken Chorus and Edinburgh Zoo. These works have received support by Arts Council England, Candoco, Clarence Mews Studios, bbodance, Hiive.
